Miwok Village Elementary School (MVES) is the district’s forty-third elementary school and the first school opened under the recently approved Educational Specifications. MVES opened in July of 2022 within Elk Grove Unified School District and is projected to serve approximately 1,200 students on a year-round calendar. The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) is the fifth-largest school district in California, located in southern Sacramento County. EGUSD covers 320 square miles and includes 67 schools: forty-three elementary schools, nine middle schools, nine high schools, four alternative education schools, one charter school, a special education school, an adult education school, and a virtual academy.

Miwok Village Elementary School opened under the leadership of Dr. Jodi Boyle, with a commitment to honoring the past and present Indigenous peoples from the area while simultaneously embracing the cultural traditions of all current students and families. MVES provides learning environments grounded in social and emotional learning, fosters positive and productive peer collaboration, and offers rigorous learning opportunities.

In October of 2024, MVES welcomed a new leadership team. Sandra Wiest joined as Principal, bringing many years of experience in education. Additionally, Mr. Utile and Mrs. McCartney were appointed as Vice Principals, further strengthening the school’s leadership and commitment to student success.
At MVES, we recognize that we are the educational foundation for our children and strive to cultivate their love of learning—one they will continue to build upon throughout their years in EGUSD. We remain dedicated to ensuring that Every Student is Learning, in Every Classroom, in Every Subject, Every Day (E4) in alignment with the district’s Graduate Profile.
